Brian Flagg, CPA
Brian Flagg has over 30 years of experience in providing tax and accounting services to businesses and individuals. He specializes in individual tax preparation and planning and helps new businesses set up and maintain bookkeeping and payroll systems.
Much of his career has included advisory services to individuals and businesses in regard to their retirement and succession planning needs.
Brian is a 1978 graduate of the University of Iowa where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting. In 1980 he became fully licensed as a Certified Public Accountant and started his own practice. He is the founder of Flagg & Company LLP, a full-service accounting firm.
In addition to his membership in the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants, Brian has been active as a Boy Scout leader. Brian’s other interests include traveling, biking, backpacking, and reading.
Michelle Kilgore, CPA
Michelle is a partner in the firm of Flagg & Company LLP. She joined the firm in 1997 and began her career in an administrative role until 1999 when she decided to go back to college and pursue her accounting degree and subsequent CPA license. She has more than 17 years of experience in providing tax, accounting, and business advisory services to many individuals and small businesses. She has experience in a wide range of business operations including: construction companies, funeral homes, restaurants, hair salons, retail establishments, legal services, and many other types of service operations.
She received her Bachelors of Science Degree with an emphasis in accounting from Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa in 2004. Prior to attending Upper Iowa University, she attended Wichita State University from 1988-1991. She is a member of the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Michelle has two daughters. Her oldest lives in Washington DC working as a graphic designer for non-profits and political organizations. Her youngest daughter is studying culinary arts at DMACC in Ankeny. Her interests include music, art, travel, animals, the Kansas City Chiefs, Iowa State Cyclones, and most importantly spending time with her family and friends.
Theodore Smith, CPA
Ted has 40 years of experience as a CPA, tax preparer, and corporate controller. He began preparing income taxes during tax season with Flagg & Company LLP in early 2011.
Ted graduated from the University of Iowa in 1975 and received his CPA license in 1978. Ted plans to continue working and is looking forward to preparing your tax return with accuracy and consistency for years to come.
Ted’s interests are politics, boating, cars, projects around the house, and spending time with his wife in Davenport.
Bailey Wallace, CPA
Bailey began his career at Flagg & Company LLP in early 2012 as a tax season Intern. Then, after moving out of state for three years, he rejoined the firm full time in the summer of 2015. He has more than seven years of individual and business tax and accounting experience in the public and private business sectors. He works with a diverse group of business operations including construction companies, restaurants, home renovation companies, law offices, and many others. He provides a multitude of services including business start-up consulting, full bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, payroll, sales tax, and all levels of individual and business income tax preparation. He also prepares Iowa inheritance tax returns and estate/trust fiduciary tax returns. Prior to working in public accounting, Bailey spent three years as a corporate accountant for a publicly traded homebuilding company.
Bailey is a 2012 graduate of Iowa State University where he earned a Bachelor of Business degree in Accounting. In 2017, while working at Flagg & Company, he became a fully licensed CPA.
Bailey welcomed his first daughter in 2020. He enjoys spending time with his wife and family. Bailey’s other interests include boating and golfing.
